Where to spend summer in Wolverhampton

By bzbeth 22 May 2019

If you're in no rush to move out of halls for summer or if Wolverhampton is your hometown, we have some ideas of places you can go...

Whether the sun is shining or it's pouring it down, there are plenty of places to spend your summer and what's even better is that they're not going to break the bank either:

West Park
Park Road West, WV1 4PS

You've probably passed this park a million times because it's only a short walk from the city centre and our City campus, but have you been inside? If the weather is on your side then have a go at bowls, archery, cricket or go on the boating lake. There is a children's play area too; just don't forget your picnic!

Light House
Chubb Buildings, Fryer Street, WV1 1HT

When was the last time you went to the cinema? Not a chain like Vue and Odeon, we mean a small and cosy cinema. This is exactly what the Light House offers - a place to check out the latest films that offer a student discount meaning that tickets are only £4.50!

Wightwick Manor & Gardens
Bridgnorth Road, Wightwick Bank, WV6 8EE

This hidden gem isn't too far from the city centre but it's somewhere nice and quiet to get away from the business of town. If you've got children, it's great when the weather is on your side to sit outside with a picnic and play some games. There is a stable nearby that has a café if you're going to leave the picnic at home.

David Austin Roses Garden & Tea Room
Bowling Green Lane, WV7 3HB

This has a little bit of everything! You can wander around the grounds in the morning with the others who travel from all over the country to visit 'the home of English Roses'. Make sure you check out the Tea Room after to treat yourself to afternoon tea, it's £20 but you've earned it, right?

Wild Zoological Park
Upper Whittimere Farm, DY7 5EP

You're never too old for the zoo but this is especially perfect for small children. Wild Zoological Park has some amazing reptiles but also animals from all over the world so don't miss the demonstrations where you get the chance to actually hold the animals. How brave will you be?

Just because you're not going on holiday this summer doesn't mean you'll be stuck for something to do. There is plenty to do right on your doorstep!
