One of the first phases of our redevelopment of City Campus is about to open!
In response to student feedback we are improving the ways in which we deliver student services - open for longer and in fewer locations so that we are easier to find.
Student Centre North
On Monday 8 April, we are opening the new Student Centre North, located on the ground floor of MX Building. The Student Centre North will be open from 9.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 5pm on Friday, during term time. This will be the new location for:
- All Student Office (Here2Help) services for students from UWBS, SAD & SHAW (previously provided in ML and MI Buildings).
- All finance enquiries for current students, including student financial support, cashiers office, and access to learning fund enquiries.
- Advice and information for all current international students - including visa and immigration advice (previously provided by the International Centre in MB Building).
It will also host a newly redecorated GoCafe - serving hot and cold and Fairtrade drinks and snacks, sandwiches and hot bites, plus additional social space in our new conservatory area (opening later on during the summer).
Student Centre South
This new facility in MX building is the first opening of our new Student Centres.
The new Student Centre South will follow on the ground floor of MI Building and will be the new location for all Student Office (Here2Help) services for students from STech, SAS and LSSC. It will also deal with all enquiries and support from the Student Enabling Centre (offering support services to disabled students).
While building works continue in MI Building a temporary student office serving all students on the South Campus (STech, LSSC and SAS) will continue to operate from its current location in the MD Concourse. The Student Enabling Centre will continue to operate from MB Building.
Information for research students
Your Student Office (Here2Help) is moving.
From the start of the 2012/13 summer term, all of the services provided to research students by the Here2Help Student Office in MD Building, will be relocating to MX Building.
All aspects of student administration for research, TNE (transnational education) and distance learning students will be coordinated through the S.T.A.R (Student Transnational and Research) Office based in MX103.
If you have any queries, please contact the STAR Office via the Helpdesk, or in person at the Student Centre North located in MX Building.
You said, we listened
Students told us that they were often confused about where to go for advice and support, so we are consolidating the points of enquiry into our two new Student Centres.
We've made these changes in direct response to student feedback through our annual surveys.
There's still chance to take part in these surveys for this year - they are open to undergraduate students until the end of April 2013.
